Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!! We started the day bright and early at 6:15. I had to run across the street to get a nice spot in the shade for the 4th of July. Could you believe there were already chairs set out. I thought I would be the 1st!! Is is wrong to move somebody's chairs. Can you believe I did that. I just moved them over a foot or two so we could be in the shade too. But it turned out to be the perfect temperature. It was kind of overcast so we were comfortable. The kids had fun watching the parade.

They would wave at all the people throwing candy hoping they would get more if they did that!! About 3/4 of the way through Savannah says to me, "I need to rest my arm is getting tired."

We had to make a rule this year that we would not eat any of the candy until we got home. Last year Savannah downed most of hers before the parade was over. I didn't think they would do it but they had some willpower!!

Waiting for the parade to start.
After the parade we just rested and got some housework done so we could go to a BBQ with friends and neighbors. We had a great time! Stan and Cami have a backyard full of animals that the kids just loved. They even got a free pony ride. Zach and Savannah loved it.

Savannah is squealing with excitement!

Dylan is trying to play catch with the goat. I don't think the goat was too happy!

Family Hike

We got back from Lake Powell and Matt had taken an extra day off so we decided to go for a family hike up Bell Canyon. Usually Matt and Zach just go. Savannah has been begging to go with the boys and I thought I was in good enough shape I could do it with Dylan on my back. Man was it hard with and extra 30 lbs. Matt and the kids are fast hikers and they had to wait for me and Dylan. I soon as would catch up they would start going again so I didn't have much time to rest if I wanted to keep up with them.

Here we are at the reservoir. Matt and Zach hiked up even further while the rest of us hiked back down.

Savannah and Zach wanted to go swimming in the water. It looked very refreshing!

Isn't that sweet. Zach was helping Savannah up the trail for her first hike with the boys. Later on she was pulling him!

Schettler Family Trip - Lake Powell 2009

Here we are at Lake Powell for the 2009 Schettler Family trip. We always have such a fun time together. My whole family was able to come minus about 3 people. Dylan was trooper with wearing his life jacket. He would scream as soon as we would put it on. I was attached to him the whole trip. I think he was glad to finally be home because he had his freedom. I was glad to not be holding him 8 hours a day.

Our designated seat on the boat. We were lucky to sit here - there were a couple of times the waves came over the bow of the boat and soaked everybody but us!!

This was Zach's favorite spot in the boat. He loved the wind in his face.

Matt, Zach and Savannah hiked up to some indian ruins. They love to hike and made Daddy really nervous with their carefree steps.

This was Savannah's favorite spot. She loved the water and swimming. Everytime the boat stopped she was ready to jump out and go swimming.

This was Dylan's favorite spot. He loved dangling his feet off the back of the boat. He even went in swimming with Daddy. The water was much cooler this year due to all the cooler weather but he loved the water anyway.

Zoo Trip

Savannah watching the Cheetah. She wants one as a pet. She thinks Tabby, our cat, would get along nicely with it.

Savannah holding Ryker's hand. Dylan felt left out so he stuck his hand out for Savannah to hold as well.

Jenn and Ryker on the train ride.

Here we are on the train ride. I had bought some cotton candy for Savannah right before the ride and she was begging for me to open it. I didn't want to open it right then because Dylan would want some and I didn't want sticky hands. So I was looking for an excuse not to open it, when I saw a sign that said no food on the train. I pointed out the sign to Savannah. And then, Savannah (with her favorite question) asks why? So, I explained that the animals would want to get on the train and eat it. So she held on to it so tight the whole ride. When we went past the Buffalo she started freaking out. She seriously thought it was going to come and eat her precious cotton candy.

Swimming Lessons

Savannah with her new goggles. Of course she picked pink!! She hates water in her eyes so I wondered how swimming lessons were going to go. She loves swimming lessons and she actually puts her face in the water and gets water in her eyes.

Here is my little monkey in the water. He loves to splash and splash and splash. By the time it's time to go home I am completely wet from his splashes.

Zach thinks he is too old for swimming lessons and doesn't like to go. But I let him swim while we are waiting for his class to start and the new water gun from his birthday party helps.

Zach Birthday Party - Classic Fun Center

Happy Birthday Zach!! Zach is the last to have his birthday out of all his friends. He got to go to many birthday parties before he had his. He chose to have his part at Classic Skating. The boys had so much fun. They didn't want to leave. They rode their scooters, played laser tag, bounced on the giant inflatables and played tag in the jungle. They had a blast - their hair was soaked with sweat! It was disgusting!

Here they are getting ready to play laser tag. On the ride down to Classic Skating the kids were talking about playing laser tag. Zach's friend Jack yells out, "Zach's really easy to get." Well, needless to say Zach's team was the losing team. But that's okay he had tons of fun shooting guns!
Zach's laser tag team. The blue team. Come on Zach - you are supposed to pick red for Utah!!

Easter 2009 (St. George)

We had a great Spring break down in St. George. It was nice to get away and into warmer weather. Saturday was the only day it rained and it was warm enough to go swimming the rest of the time.

Zach and Savannah loved the pool and couldn't get enough. Zach had to yell, "CANNONBALL" everytime he jumped in the pool.

Matt and Zach loved playing raquetball. I was impressed by how well Zach did. I guess all the hours of playing Wii Sports has really helped out his hand/eye coordination.

Savannah and Dylan had lots of fun swimming in the baby pool. Savannah was the best pool cleaner ever. Everytime a "feather" (leaf) would fall in the pool she would quickly scoop it out.

Savannah comes up with some interest names for things. She enjoyed going on walks and looking for "jungle trees."

We celebrated Dylan's first birthday while down in St. George. We started out the day by going to Fiesta Fun, playing and eating at McDonald's. We should have bought stock in McDonald's before going on vacation. I think we ate there at least once a day.

Springtime

Savannah loves picking flowers. This is one of the warm days we have had this spring. On these warm days we drop everything and play outside all day. I keep forgetting to put sunscreen on them and poor Dylan had a sunburned bald head.

Don't they look like twins! Zach had so much fun driving Dylan around. Dylan didn't want to get out. He kept trying to reach over and grab the steering wheel. I know he can't wait to get big enough to drive the tractor. Zach is an excellent driver and back out of the tight spot in the garage without hitting my car. Savannah -- well, let's say she needs some practice.
